Here is the word of God on Silk's abilities.

(Kieran Mullen) It's pretty broadly indicated that Silk was gestated
from a frozen embryo as Mucor was. This has some nice symbolic effects
('virgin birth', the hero as having unusual origins, etc.). Does Silk
have any human engineered, extraordinary abilities? ...

(GW ) ... To quibble, it depends on what you mean by extraordinary. He
has none comparable to Mucor's, although his are much more valuable.
He is a born leader, with great energy and intelligence, and superior
motor skills.

(Elsewhere in the same interview he says Silk is slightly psychic, but
the way he says it suggests he thinks that's really quite
unexceptional.)
