Sorry just saw this post - I was referring to the high spot in Return to the Whorl where the stiff bird legged fellow approaches Horn on Green as a possible Sev, not to the end of UotNS (in my mind, Rttw is later in the timeline)

This seems like at least two generations, and even short ones would add 
up to 30-40 years, giving enough time for trees to grow and be made into 
boats and bowers and huts.
