All this vegetable talk is good fun and games, but if you look over Empires of Foliage and Flower, Thyme is a herb who lives only off water while his "daughter" must eat, she plays at "pease" with little seeds to bring peace between two warring nations, and the false assuming of the opposing factions colors, green and yellow, does not end the war but rather still maintains a war "between the laurels and the vines" (see end of story.) Thyme takes the girl to the brook (Madregot?).
ANYWAY, yes, there really really are a whole lot of vegetable themes going on in the Sun sequences, and this mock is all well and good, but it is based on some serious undercurrents. Thyme drinks "with a banyan tree" and the identification of men with seeds by the girl is, at the very least, interesting (metaphor or not). In any case, Thyme is an eremite who walks with the Increate.
