(urth) 'King Rat' and the abuse of women in Gene Wolfe's stories

No, my characters are not like me. I can only imagine what I would be like
as a literary character.  A bookish, somewhat awkward lawyer with a penchant
for self-deprecation and sarcasm?  Heaven save us from such characters.
