Well, as I understand it, _Long Sun_ wasn't planned at the time, and
it was only while he was working on it that Wolfe came to see it as
connected with _New Sun_, so the Severian/Silk parallelism must have
been something he thought up later. Does Severian have an antipolaric
brother within _New Sun_? I'm not sure (and I don't see Typhon as
fitting the part, certainly not without the extra knowledge of him we
get from _Long Sun_).

Are we ever told Caesidius' hair colour? (Not having read RTTW, I
don't know the significance of this passage; but it might help us work
out possible connections between him and Severian.)
