>hammstu- Has anyone suggested that the ape like figures and Inire in particular are Inhumi
>and that's how they got on the Whorl before it orbited Blue and Green??

I think it is a good idea. Quetzal bears some resemblance to Inire. Moreover using the
bird-name Quetzal can't help but invoke the Mayan god Quezalcoatl. For me, this is yet
another of the knowledge-and-civilization bringing sort of pagan gods which I think are
alluded to in Urth's story. Moreover there is significant vampiric allusion to be found
in the BotNS story.

In the recent, astute post of Roy C. Lackey, he suggests that the ontological evolution of
Tzadkiel from shaggy blob to giant angelic being might (well, he doesn't say "might")
recapitulate the phylogenic evolution of the Hierogrammate race. If so, we can guess that
even the shaggy blob which has only the potential for intelligence does possess the capacity
for shape-shifting. It does bring to mind the primitive, shape shifting beings on Green from
which the Inhumi originated. (likewise the primitive origins of shape-shifting Shadow Children
in Fifth Head of Cerberus).
