I believe that the conversation has broken down because one of the
participants was having bad emotions which interfered with his or her
clear thought and caused him or her to act in various dysfunctional ways.

In the post appended below your interesting paragraph, I was merely
correcting your mistaken usage of a term of art. I appreciated it, when I
was thus corrected.
