I agree with you. That's way I'm not in either side of the fence regarding this matter. 
 
Where I disagree with you is that I do think these discussions are interesting and are obviously one of the major reasons why people end up on this list. Personaly, and since I'm a researcher by occupation, I do like to see if the science as depicted in books is consistent, just like I do discussing these more trivial things like the one we are discussing now. 
But I guess that ends up beying a matter of personal taste.
