Port Mimizon is broken. Adaptability and adjustment taken too far without innovation and true understanding of function leads to decadence or a repetition of meaningless patterns. Number Five and Maitre have preserved some human stock for them to imitate, but the native species have failed, because they are ill suited to the lifestyle they have adapted, one that is not their own. They have taken over and made the place a hell.
