Catholicism is not anti-slavery, and in some cases can be safely said to be pro-slavery. They, following the example of St. Paul, implicitly accept slavery as not in itself incompatible with the Christian Law. The apostle counsels slaves to obey their masters, and to bear with their condition patiently.
There are a fair number of enslaved characters and I cannot recall any of them or any sympathetic character disparaging the institution itself. Particular conditions, sure, but the fact that one person owns another is perfectly fine.
