think tech went downhill, but I don’t see it as relevant to the decor of the
chambers, which will be affected more by fashion except for the absence of high

fashioned cushions. But cushions and chairs are surely available options
in all non-Arctic societies from the Bronze Age onwards, so tech level doesn’t
really matter, and the use of cushions rather than chairs tells us nothing about

absence of chairs, however, tells us that the chamber was furnished at a time
when chairs were unfashionable. If we were told that Typhon’s quarters in
Urth were furnished only with cushions, it would be a strong suggestion that the
chamber came from this time. On the other hand, if people (especially the
upper classes) normally sat on chairs or benches in Typhon’s time, we would have
an indication that the chambers were furnished some time later.</DIV></DIV>
