Ah. I'm currently re-reading Urth, so I'll look for that. Maybe, then, that is evidence that it's the Increates will at work after all, since that seems to be the future Sev has helped to create, despite the Hirogrammates aims, but I'll comment more (maybe!) when I've finished the read.<br>

</div>There's a bit at the end of Urth that strongly implies that the future<br>
the Hierogrammates are aiming for is not the Green Man's future. I<br>
don't think the Green Man is a midpoint between Severian's people and<br>
reengineered Hieros.<br>
