Could not that be the star that Severian brings as the New Sun? He seems to be "in touch" with it in Urth of the New Sun, so its not a big stretch to assume that it has a "mind". On the other hand a Wolfe interview I read makes allusions to the new sun brough by Severian to be a white hole...<BR>

You seem to assume that our Sun as aged naturaly and so is "dying". I don't think thats the reason why the Sun is dying. Severian time can be from 100.000 years to 1 million years in the future, but the Sun at that time will be as "healthy" as it is now. I think the reason behind the "dying Sun" is artificial. Maybe something done by the Hierogrammates or by Tartaros (black hole in the hearth of the Sun?).<BR><BR><BR>
