Thanks for the info, but I loved A Deepness in the Sky for the images and characters, and didn’t even notice the politics.  In any case, Vinge Is not right-wing in the sense of wanting the government to require prayer in the public schools.

Vinge is anarcho capitalist: the state will dissolve when private companies provide the same services cheaper. Almost all his novels include some sort of private security or private military. A Deepness in the Sky is, in my opinion, the single best libertarian novel ever.
