I mean any kind of technology that lets them see hidden things. Or it
could be both, ultrasound and X-rays have medical uses as well as
industrial and spying applications. The Witches could be the clone
keepers, with the homunculus in the ancient Autarchial suite a souvenir of
their success in replicating the technique after Typhon's followers
fled/stopped returning.
