They’re not so fussy. It looks like they’ll eat anyone, at a pinch, even if some of them have preferences:

One might consider it as paralleling Severian’s sexual encounters with a wide spectrum of Commonwealth society, and later his absorption of the minds of previous Autarchs. The diabolical communion of the Vodalarii is still, indeed, a sort of communion. Evil is good perverted.
