Where does it say when Typhon was grafted to Piaton?  And not to be a
smart ass but since when is a year not enough time to have children.
Besides even if Piaton did not father children through sexual
relations there is still artificial insemination, cloning, etc.  Maybe
his children began life as embryos.  There is that comment to Severian
that he was not born as we might think it.  Perhaps it was the same
for his children.
