I misread you, youre not saying the great beasts are 17. So I'll advance the
possibility that there were once 17 personalities, simultaneously or not,
whom the ascians came to revere and the commonwealthians to despise. The
ascians may call them the g17, or the group may have purposely named itself
after the 17.
