Now THIS is something I did want to comment on, below the quote:

I do think there is an important connection between Silk and Auk that is complicated by Auk's possession.  Why is it said that if Chenille were a man she would be like Auk?  Just a throwaway comment to indicate she is unlike Silk?  

Echidna's desire to have Auk seems like he is very important to her, and he is also very important to Mint - and his mission to capture Hyacinth (Kypris?) seems like a case of mistaken identity (was he supposed to capture some other woman?  Who? Mamelta is the only other woman who matches her description somewhat, already dead, unknown to ... whoever?).

Is Auk just as important to the family of Pas as Silk is?  Since he can see, he is clearly not the blind son of Typhon.  

And why does Horn think that guy in the aqueduct or whatever that is on Green is Auk?  Also creepy.
