That's correct, but Sev affirmitively writes that he was sitting. the
revision is in what he is sitting on, but not that he is sitting at all.
Stepladders are mostly higher than high stools, so in order to maintain
similar appearnces, the person on the stepladder needs to be taller than
average in similar proportion.
If Rudesind is sitting on a stepladder smaller than a high stool, that
indicates to me that he is trying to clean an area of canvas lower down
than usual, and is doing so to avoid stooping. this also is sometihng
that a taller person than average would be given to do since they have
all the farther to stoop.
