The homonymous naming is not incidental, neither in mythology nor, I 
believe, on Urth. In the cosmological sense, Gyoll is sometimes a river 
and sometimes a rock, but it is the same entity.

The Gyoll is not the only river in Hel. It does not _only_ run through a 
necropolis. And it is not the river associated with the centaur Nessus 
(which is Evenus). I think Wolfe does a better job at naming than that.
