Right--I think there's a deliberate mystery as to by what means Inire, the
hierodule, extends his lifespan (someone has proposed that Inire's lifespan
is actually normal, but that he makes extensive use of time travel to only
catch the "good parts" of history).  But we're supposed to understand that
he's a hierodule.
