Heavens, no. There were only slight hints of it in _LotR_. For me, any one of
"The Ainulindale," "Of Turin Turambar," and "The Fall of Gondolin" entirely
justifies the existence of the _Silm_.

I would say that it was a deeply flawed book, however.
