I found the reference. It was actually twin icons of Ganymedia and Catamitus
on either sides of the doors of the entrance to the wing where Hyacinth
resided. Ganymede and Catamitus are the Greek and Roman names of the same
minor god, a young boy who was taken by Zeus to be his beloved and the
cupbearer to the gods. Hyacinthus was also a beautiful boy in Greek
mythology, quarreled over by Apollo and the wind-god, which led to the boy
dying and being made a demigod also.
