my reply to this snippet below  from Gerry (I would respond on the bottom but can't get rid of the quoting line for some reason, everything I type looks like a continuation of his thoughts.

Yes, that fish is one of the great mysteries of Long Sun for me, as well as the spoons and stuff Silk gets in his augury, something I am certain has significance.  We NEED to talk about that Fish!

Is it a symbol too, of Christianity eating the Goddess of Love?  ie - the outsider is an invention of Typhon and Kypris, but somehow a very real fish (the real Outsider) eats them up and subsumes their substance?  I have always always always been puzzled by it, and the dream as a whole.   And yes, the struggle mentions at one point what Pas really wants is an heir, I will try to find the quote, and it seems like his main motivation, one that would supersede Echidna and her brood, and is so by default their enemy.

Forgive the caps.
I DON"T WANT TO LEAVE THAT FISH ON A SYMBOLIC LEVEL.  I DON"T WANT TO LEAVE SEVERIAN"S FACE IN THE MAUSOLEUM UNEXPLORED.  I DON"T WANT TO IGNORE WHY MAMELTA MIGHT BE KYPRIS AND IS ON THE WHORL. THERE MUST BE A REASON.  Does it have to do with the broken Seal of the Monarch?  Is Mucor killing all the Monarch's real family sealed down there?

Most of his dream is about the fish that swallowed Mamelta.  It also includes Lemur, and certain women.  The women seem to be ones Silk associates with sex to some degree.  It's not randomly thrown together, but nor is it necessarily a cipher by which one can decode the meaning of the entire text.   If it does mean something, maybe it suggests we should think more about that fish!
