>Ryan Dunn- Why is Lee writing directly to you, James, and you're replying-all to the list?

As James said, I am writing to the list. I suspect the confusion is coming from the fact that
James has used several posts to reply to different parts of my one earlier post.

>James Wynn- I'm now quite confident that Hyacinth = Fava.
>The question still out there is how does Seawrack map to Hyacinth? Is
>the Love the only common factor?

I've little doubt that Horn's love for Nettle is an echo of Gene Wolfe's love for his wife,
Rosemary. Likewise for the relationship between Horn and his sons.

I get the impression that there is a recognition of different kinds of loves in the story, some
wholesome and plain, others passionate and...not so wholesome.

Silk's love for Hyacinth is clearly not very wholesome. Likewise Horn's love for Seawrack.
(Typhon-Echidna-Kypris? a bit too nasty and god-like for me to unravel the morality)

I am convinced that Seawrack is a pinched off portion of The Mother. I do not understand how The
Mother and Inhumi and Neighbors are related (surely somehow, yes?). But perhaps your perceived
connection between Hyacinth-Fava-Seawrack can be helpful.

>She says she named herself Scylla after the megatherian with whom she was
>conspiring against her father (the "other" [ahem] Scylla conspired with
>King Minos against her city and her father, King Nisus.)
>Then, big Scylla (apparently) absorbs little Scylla. So it is possible
>that the did eventually become one

Thanks for the Scylla backstory! Yes, this does fall in line with my GUT. As tinkerbell Tzadkiel
hopes to reuinte with big Tzadkiel, as (I think) Seawrack hopes to reunite with The Mother, so
little, human Scylla hoped to reunite with big mama monster Scylla.

My GUT says that as humanity explores the galaxy, they encounter creatures (like Shadow Children and Inhumi)
which have the ability to imitate, via shapeshifting. The imitation occurs down to the DNA level so there is
sexual interbreeding possible. But the shapeshifting, asexual reproductive potential remains. These
parasites are able to thus infect humanity among the stars and, of course eventually track humanity
back to its source planet, Urth. Thus we get gods, monsters etc. I think exultants are tied to this- they
are Urth's newest families and Thecla is wearing kraken jewelry. What might that symbolize?

If I understand correctly, Neighbors on Green were thoroughly infiltrated and corrupted by Inhumi, to
the point of them going back to their home planet, Blue, and sowing war, infiltration and corruption there.
Somehow (I guess) that led to the creation of a megatherian Mother on Blue.

A similar process happened on Urth. But Urth has guardian Angels looking after it as Blue does not. This is
because Hierogrammates are derived from humans, not Neighbors. The Hierogrammates put the black hole in Urth's
sun because it was being ruled by an alien monster in human form, named Typhon. Typhon says he learned that
human beings follow their leader better if he has a recognizable human face. Later megatherian arrivals are,
as Typhon recognizes, his rivals.

I think a legitimate debate continues on whether Father Inire might represent a version or agent of Typhon
working against the new megatherian arrivals, as the Titan Prometheus was working against the Olympian usurpers
by helping humanity. We have the Inire-Inuus-Pan-Pas-Typhon connection I think.

Does that make sense? (I realize it may not, to many)
