I don't know where Dan'l lives, but where I live (the US) the police are in fact at war with a significant minority of the population. We imprison more people than Russia or China. 

But that's in MY universe, of course. No telling what universe Josh lives in. I believes he has a complicated theory to explain it involving multiple dimensions and time warps.

No, people will pay less taxes and therefore have more money and therefore
go bankrupt less often.

Every penny of taxes is robbed at gunpoint from a citizen, mind you.

You're just not used to living in a well-run society, Dan'l. Where you
live, the police are at war with the majority section of the population.

Well-run societies are inexpensive.
