Hi, all,
Brand new to the list, and I'm reading Long Sun for the first time, as well. At present, I'm about 200 pages into Calde of the Long Sun and loving it. It's interesting to read the reactions of anther reading this series for the first time, as well.
I had the same reaction to the final scenes. By the end of Lake, the story's been kicked up quite a few notches.

Great stuff. a gnostic metaphor of a world with a false creator and help from outside that creation. The Real Sun (God) outshining a False Sun (demiurge). beautifully illustrated. I love how he flees, terrified from having seen the real sun.
