I should clarify: if you don't mind Young Adult, _The Tombs of Atuan_  
(Earthsea #2) is really magnificent.

I thought for a long time after reading _The Amber Spyglass_ that,  
"Hey, Phil: Ursula called.  She wants _The Farthest Shore_ back," but  
after re-reading _The Farthest Shore_ it's actually, "Hey, Phil and  
Ursula: Rilke called.  He wants the Tenth Elegy back."
