(urth) Off-topic Question

A story by Wolfe not yet mentioned that fits your criteria beautifully is
'The Detective of Dreams'.  Contains both a detective and a religious theme;
religion is central to the story as well.  Also a wonderful story to just
read and enjoy.  Sorry if this was already mentioned.
