I'm in the middle of _Lady of Mazes_ right now and am very impressed
so far.  He reminds me of my choice for best hard SF writer: Ken
MacLeod.  I think his first two books, _Star Fraction_ and _Stone
Canal_are my favorites, and _Newton's Wake_ (which is probably the
closest in feel to _Lady of Mazes_), but everything he's written is
very good.
