People rarely comprehend how philsophically tight Christianity fit within 
the 1st century world helping it spread so quickly. The Jews were looking 
for a messiah at the time and Jesus's birth occurred at about time of the 
rising of Pisces. Christians were certainly aware of this. It's hardly 
surprising that gnostic cults would gleefully adopt the Christian mythos--  
much to the chagrin of apostolic Christians.
