H'mmm. I don't generally listen to music while reading, and especially while
reading something (like Wolfe) that deserves my full attention.

But soundtrack music for a film/series of films? H'mm:

Operation Ares -- Bernhard Herrmann
The Fifth Head of Cerberus -- Godspeed You! Black Emperor
The Devil in a Forest -- Danny Elfman
The Book o'the New Sun -- *Definitely* Bernhard Herrmann
The Soldier books -- H'mm, that's hard. Maybe someone like John Cage
or George Crumb.
Castleview -- Mark Knopfler, in "Local Hero" mode.
Pandora, by Holly Hollander -- Kate Bush
The Books of the Long/Short Sun -- Ennio Morricone
The Wizard Knight -- Blackmore's Night (or Enya at a long shot)
"The Island of Doctor Death" and Other Stories -- John Williams (think about it)
The Death of Doctor Island -- Peter Gabriel

That should be enough, no?

Soon, where Toon Town once stood will be a string of gas stations,
inexpensive motels, restaurants that serve rapidly prepared food. Tire
salons, automobile dealerships and wonderful, wonderful billboards
reaching as far as the eye can see. My God, it'll be beautiful.
