But not one iota as disturbing as the true acts of
violence against women perpetuated daily in the world.
Heck man, two women were killed by abusive
spouses/boyfriends within a year on the street I lived
on as a teenager on and I've called the cops twice on
a neighbor who was beating up his girlfriend just this
year. It's definitely a literary obsession of Wolfe's
but that's a writer's job, to push and then push
harder. Good for Wolfe for disturbing you, and better
for you for being disturbed. Perhaps too, there is a
misidentification of chauvanism with misogyny? Just
thinking out loud.
