"Both cacogen and hierodule" is like saying "both vertebrate and
mammalian." The latter implies the former.

You are right, of course, that the text leaves the hierosity of
Father Inire rather ambiguous. The question is -- are there
any human-scale cacogens on Urth who are _not_ Hierish?
If so, who are they and how do we know?
