In b sharp's context, I think I would go with "gods from machines",  
which would be _dei ex machinis_ or _di ex machinis_.  If you like  
"gods from the machine", parallel to "brothers in law", that would be  
_di ex machina_

This could raise the question of whether Wolfe has one machine or many.
