Skinner and his cohorts were well aware of the
biological and evolutionary framework which
underpinned their work.
They chose to emphasise that this did not predetermine
our fate.
The belief in free-will only has significance to the
behavioursists if it can be shown to influence our
actions.
It is not ruled out by a consideration of
environmental factors.
It is ironic that Turings early experiments, though
innocent, shoould directly link to Von Neuman's notion
of a self-replicating device.
