 From OED, 2nd edition:

manvantara [Skr., f. Manu + antara period. ] In Hindu cosmology: One of
the 14 periods, each presided over by a special `Manu' or cosmic deity,
which make up a kalpa.

     * 1830 Lyell Princ. Geol. I. ii. 6 There has been a long succession
of manwantaras or periods.

     * 1834 Nat. Philos. III. Astron. App. 117 (Usef. Knowl. Soc.) The
Kalpa was subdivided into 14 Manwantaras, each of 308448000 years with
the addition of 1728000 years to make up the Kalpa.
